​To register to vote for the first time, you will need:

• Proof of ID (driver’s license, state or student ID, passport, birth certificate)
• Proof of residency (piece of mail showing a SOUTHWEST HARBOR street address)

The State of Maine allows residents to register to vote anytime, including the same day of election (however advanced updates are strongly recommended). Southwest Harbor residents may register to vote in person at the Town Clerk's office anytime; or when changing or renewing a driver's license at the Registry of Motor Vehicles at least 25 days prior to an election.
